Tree Rings – A Story to Tell, category A

One of the oldest trees in the town is situated in the heart of the historical town center in between the building of the imposing equisetrian-architectural complex. This enormous plane tree has witnessed almost everything that makes the citizens so proud of living in Mezőhegyes. The importance of trees in urban life is more than providing fresh air, giving shade or charming people.The old trees and the buildings play an important role of the locals sense of identity. Though the tree itself (planted in 1819) was not the protagonist of the events that took place the last 200 years, it could be interesting thinking about the fact how the townscape has been impacted by its constantly growing foliage.
